HEMLOCK

Western hemlock is the most plentiful tree species on British Columbia’s coast, growing from sea level to mid-elevations. It is a light brown wood, sometimes whitish, with a purple tinge. It is even textured and can appear somewhat glossy. Although commonly used in general construction for things like plywood and roof decking, hemlock is also an exceptional high-grade softwood that lends itself particularly well to interior woodworking such as mouldings, floors, doors and windows.
